Engineering Maintenance professionals play a vital role in ensuring the reliability, safety, and efficiency of complex systems and equipment across a wide range of industries. Their responsibilities encompass the Operation, Maintenance, Diagnosis, and Repair (OMDR) of electrical, electronic, and control systems, which are essential to the seamless operation of industrial, commercial, healthcare, and service environments

  • Engineering Maintenance - Electrical

  • Engineering Maintenance - Service Maintenance 
  • Engineering Maintenance - Servicing Medical Equipment 

Eligibility and requirements

To be eligible for each of the ECS Engineering Maintenance Gold card, applicants must:

1. Successfully completed one of the following: 
  • an Approved Apprenticeship in Engineering Maintenance, Engineering Technician, Maintenance Engineer or other relevant title with an electrotechnical bias 
  • an NVQ Level 3 Diploma or eqivalent in Engineering Maintenance in a relevant electrotechnical pathway or bias

Engineering Maintenance - Electrical 

Professionals in this pathway ensure electrical systems meet safety and operational standards, including compliance with regulatory codes. Typical environment include, manufacturing plants, utilities, and large-scale commercial or industrial sites. 

Engineering Maintenance - Engineered Systems 

Professionals in this pathway work on the electrotechnical components of complex systems such as, production lines, automated machinery, HVAC systems, and renewable energy solutions. Focus areas include, troubleshooting system faults, ensuring operational efficiency, and implementing preventative maintenance strategies. 

Engineering Maintenance - Service Maintenance 

Professionals in this pathway are skilled in maintaining a range of systems including, electrical installations, mechanical components, and safety-critical infrastructure. Work environments include, retail, office buildings, residential complexes, and hospitality venues. 

Engineering Maintenance - Servicing Medical Equipment 

Professionals in this pathway ensure the functionality, safety, and regulatory compliance of equipment such as, diagnostic machines, surgical instruments, and patient monitoring systems. Work environments include, hospitals, clinics, and laboratories, requiring meticulous attention to safety standards and manufacturer guidelines.
