Card information
The ECS Fire, Emergency and Security Systems (FESS) Systems Operative card is for people working in the FESS industry as a specialist installer or maintainer of FESS systems.
Some people holding this card, and have relevant industry experience, may go on to apply for an ECS FESS gold card as a Systems Technician after completing the industry Experienced Worker Assessment. There is further information about this on the

Eligibility and requirements
To be eligible for this card, applicants must meet the following criteria:
1. Hold the ECS Fire, Emergency and Security Systems (FESS) assessment in the industry sector discipline you are applying for:
- Fire
- Fire & Emergency Lighting
- Fire & Security
- Security

OR
2. Have completed one of the EAL, FIA or FireQual
recognised qualification routes in the attached document (for the Fire Pathway) or legacy qualifications in the column to the right for both Fire and Security
PLUS
3. Hold a current ECS Health, Safety and Environmental Assessment.
