IPowerE Recognised as Route to Obtaining Professional Qualified Persons Card

16 January 25

The ECS facilitates a structured and consistent approach to validating the professional competencies of individuals working in electrotechnical and related industries. One of these methods is for assessing those who have achieved status through professional membership bodies. The Institution of Power Engineers (IPowerE) is now recognised under the Electrotechnical Certification Scheme (ECS) for issuing Professional Qualified Persons (PQP) cards to its members.

Members of the IPowerE work in diverse environments and disciplines, ranging from university-based research and development (R&D) roles to operational power stations governed by Construction Design and Management (CDM) regulations. IPowerE members can now obtain a PQP card that acknowledges their cross-sectoral expertise and professional standing. The PQP card helps enhance the member’s ability to work within regulated environments, meeting industry requirements for competence verification.

The recognition of IPowerE within the ECS framework enable its membership to access an industry-standard qualification mechanism aligned with Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) standards, ensuring safety, competence, and professional development.
