The Building Safety Act 2022 came into force this week (28th June 2022) as one of the main regulatory steps introduced to improve safety in the construction industry after the Grenfell disaster.
Following development by the Domestic Electrician Apprenticeship employer group, the Institute for Apprenticeships and Technical Education has approved a new Domestic Electrician Level 3 apprenticeship standard which will begin delivery in the next few months. As an apprenticeship route recognised in England, this will attract appropriate government funding.
Open Awards, a licensed awarding organisation which operates across the UK, has recently launched a series of new qualifications in network infrastructure disciplines. Two of these qualifications have now been included in the list of possible qualifications for the ECS Network Infrastructure Installer (Level 3) card.
The ECS Network Infrastructure Awareness Assessment has been devised by industry employers to provide a route to support the application of an ECS Network Infrastructure Assistant card. For those in industry who have not been able to undertake an apprenticeship and do not hold recognised industry qualifications, the Network Infrastructure Awareness Assessment is a simple and cost-effective way to meet an awareness level standard and allow the award of the ECS Network Infrastructure Assistant card.
